– A Titus County man is among two soldiers killed in Afghanistan. The body of 25-year-old Staff Sgt. Chauncey R. Mays will return to Texas through Greenville's airport.

Mays died Monday of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked with an improvised explosive device in Wardak Province. The Cookville native was assigned to the 63rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion, 20th Support Command, from Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.

Mays' wife is from Greenville. His body was to be returned to Majors Field Municipal Airport, but a date and time was still unclear as of Thursday afternoon.

Since the start of the war on terror, Majors Field has received the bodies of six other American heroes.
