Council allows judges to carry concealed weapon

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Judges in Greenville may be packing heat while on City property now, thanks to a change to the City's personnel manual.

The Greenville City Council Tuesday voted to allow judges already licensed to carry a weapon to do so while also at work.

Former law enforcement officer and Associate Judge of the Greenville Municipal Court Guy Morphew had asked the policy be changed. Prior to the change, any employee other than a licensed peace officer was prohibited the possession of weapons while on City property.
