Local crews back home after battling fires out west

Commerce – Two fire strike teams, made up of crews from Northeast Texas, have returned home safely.

According to Commerce Fire Chief Brian McNevin, firefighter's Jeremy Littlefield and Brian Millard, along with Brush Truck 2 arrived home Friday. The truck is to be cleaned and re-supplied for another possible deployment, with firefighters Josh Cato and Joe Martello standing by.

Strike Team 6 consists of personnel from Frisco, Royse City and Propser, and was assisting in the Davis Mountain fire. Strike Team 15, which is made up of firefighters from Mt Pleasant, Sugar Hill, Bogota and Cookville has also returned home after their deployment, which first sent them to Copper Canyon.

Meanwhile, fire crews throughout the state are still in need of items like chap stick, sunscreen and Gatorade.
