Violent crowd sparks officers to use force

By Scott Harvey

Paris – Paris Police are forced to use pepper spray to disperse dozens of people while investigating a shooting.

Authorities responded early Friday morning to the Crosswire Club at 3330 NE Loop 286 to find a subject with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

According to Crime Information Office Matt Birch, while trying to talk to the victim and check on his condition, police were met by several violent and unruly bystanders. Birch says one person was arrested for interfering with police.

The victim was eventually transported to Paris Regional Medical Center South ER for treatment.

No suspects have been named at this time and the case is under investigation.
