Local woman's murder still under review

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – The investigation continues into last summer's murder of Royse City resident Heather LeAnn Pope.

Still no arrests have been made and no suspects identified in the case, which is being reviewed by the Hunt County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Randy Meeks says evidence has also been submitted to a forensics anthropology lab in Denton and the Sheriff's Association of Texas Cold Case Review Team.

Autopsy results confirm Pope was murdered due to blunt force trauma to the head. Her body was found on August 2, 2010, about two weeks after she was reported missing, outside of a vacant house in the Duck Cove area on the shores of Lake Tawakoni.
