Van Zandt County – An amended petition has been filed by an East Texas resident which seeks the removal of a Van Zandt County commissioner.
The petition concerning Ricky LaPrade was filed in Van Zandt County District Court.
KLTV reports the Precinct 1 Commissioner was recently arrested on separate occasions for drunk driving. The first incident occurred in April, with the second alleged offense earlier this month. He was also arrested this year for misappropriation of fiduciary property.
LaPrade says he's being unfairly targeted by local law enforcement for cutting employees and programs they support.
A judge could order a trial to determine whether the county commissioner is fit to remain in office.
