They died around 1,500 years ago, at the end of the Roman Empire. They were buried inside the walls of a palace in the northern Italian town of Modena. But their love lived on. Workers renovating the palace discovered the couple laying side by side, now just bones, but still holding hands, their arms entwined, her head turned towards his.
