PJC Radiology Student Named International Scholar

PARIS - Rafael Gonzales, a Paris Junior College radiology technology student from Wolfe City, has been accepted to the 2012 International Scholar Laureate Program (ISLP) Delegation on Medicine.

As part of the program, he is enrolled in a cultural extension trip to Australia, where he will tour hospital and medical facilities. He was chosen for his leadership skills and outstanding academics.

“I’m excited,” said Gonzales. “This is cool. I’m planning to go into either CT scan or MRI diagnostic imaging.”

ISLP is intended to provide global networking opportunities and insight into career fields.  The program is partnered with George Mason University to offer college credit, as well.

“I think it’s an honor for our entire program that one of our students has been offered the opportunity to participate,” said PJC Radiology Technology Program Coordinator Karen Powers. “It’s my understanding they will get to tour the facilities all the way from administration to all the departments.”

Gonzales is a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and Phi Theta Kappa, the two-year college honor society. He leaves for Australia in June.
