Some communities around Northeast Texas have canceled their annual Christmas parades due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, others will hold annual parades, with most of those scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5.
The good news is that the weather should be close to perfect – seasonably cool, but dry. Viewers should wear masks and mainatin social distancing, as diagnoses of COVID-19 have been surging throughout the region. Here’s a rundown, listed alphabetically by city, of those communities in the KETR listening area that will be hosting Christmas parades this Saturday.
Blue Ridge (Collin County)
6 p.m., Blue Ridge Town Square, W. FM 545 and Main St.
Caddo Mills (Hunt County)
6 p.m., Caddo Mills Middle School, 2700 Gilmer St.
Floats will begin lining up at 4:30 p.m., with judging of entries scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Commerce (Hunt County)
6 p.m., City Park, 2300 Park St.
The 7th Annual Bois d'Arc Christmas celebration and parade in Commerce starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, with the theme of “Hearts Come Home at Christmas.” There will be a new route this year to include Oak Manor Nursing Home and Country Home Estates Assisted Living.
Cooper (Delta County)
6 p.m., Harmon Park, E. Sherman Ave. and City Park Rd.
Line up at 5 p.m., judging of floats at 5:30 p.m.
Honey Grove (Fannin County)
5 p.m., Honey Grove High School, 1206 17th St.
Floats will begin lining up at 4:30 p.m.
Leonard (Fannin County)
6 p.m., Leonard Municipal Building, 105 S. Main St.
Lineup will begin at 5 p.m. at the First Baptist Church and Parmele Street for cars, trucks, trailers, floats, tractors and horses. The First United Methodist Church will the staging area for walking or small motorized units. The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. and the parade will follow.
Princeton (Collin County)
6 p.m., Princeton High School, 1206 17th St.
Floats will begin lining up at 5 p.m.
Wolfe City (Hunt County)
4 p.m., Wolfe City Post Office, 200 W. Main St.
Staging will begin at 3 p.m. behind the Wolfe City Post Office.
