HOPKINS COUNTY - State Troopers are reporting an accident between a car and a horse early Wednesday morning that left two men hospitalized.

21-year-old Max Sterling McKinnon, of Sulphur Springs, was listed in critical condition at Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler. The wreck occurred along Highway 11 near Gafford’s Chapel at approximately 1:40 a.m. Wednesday. The other man, whose name has not been released, was treated at Hopkins County Memorial.

Cloudy and rainy conditions this morning prevented helicopters from flying in to transport the men.
