PARIS - Community members are invited to Paris Tuesday for the deployment of 175 National Guard Soldiers.
The National Guard US Army Reserve is behind Paris Junior College at 1355 SE 24th Street.
The Red River Valley Veterans Memorial Committee will be on hand to greet the soldiers and give each a Veterans Children’s Calendar prior to their departure to Afghanistan. The Committee is inviting 4th grade students, parents and teachers to arrive at 7:15 a.m., with the soldiers scheduled to depart around 8 a.m.
The Veterans Memorial Committee is currently laying the groundwork near Love Civic Center where you can honor past, present and future veterans. Fundraisers include the ongoing Pennies for Patriots campaign at local elementary schools, a recent auction and upcoming USO Veterans show in Paris, set for November 12.
