TxDOT announces retirement of Director of Construction

PARIS -Kevin Harris will retire from the Texas Department of Transportation Wednesday, after 29 years of serving the North Texas region.

Kevin began his career with the Department in June 1983 as an Engineering Assistant in the Sherman Area Office.  Most of his early years were committed to the design and construction of the US 75 new alignment freeway projects that looped around Sherman and Denison.  He became licensed as a professional engineer in December 1987.  In the mid-90's, Kevin served as Maintenance Engineering Supervisor over the Grayson County Maintenance Section.  In 2000, he was named Assistant Area Engineer in Sherman.  Kevin was promoted to Sherman Area Engineer in February 2004.  On September 1, 2009, Kevin was named Director of Construction, the position he currently holds.

Kevin stated, "I have always enjoyed the challenges of dealing with local issues and finding a way to resolve them in a manner that would benefit the majority involved.  Your teammates greatly influence the goals that you achieve in your career.  I'm proud of my career with TxDOT and have been blessed to have worked with so many good people."    

Kevin graduated in 1983 from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.  Kevin and his wife Beverly have been married for 30 years and have two daughters, Dreu and Jess, who both reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Upon retirement, Kevin plans to play more golf and softball, and have more time to spend with his family.
