Murder suspect claims innocence in July shooting

GREENVILLE - Despite police claims that Micah Crofford Brown had confessed to the killing of his ex-wife, he entered a not guilty plea to the charge Thursday.

Stella Michelle Ray, a Caddo Mills school teacher, was shot and killed in front of the couple’s two children in July. An interim hearing for Brown has been set for February 16. He remains jailed on $1.5 million bond.

The shooting was reportedly instigated from a custody argument.
