Rural Hunt County property at center of dumping suit

GREENVILLE - A major illegal dumping lawsuit that covers nearly five decades will soon be filed in Hunt County and seek tens of millions of dollars in penalties.

Chester Leon Lee is accused of dumping trash and other debris on his property between Greenville and Wolfe City and runoff from the debris has reportedly found its way onto the tanks of a catfish farm. The lawsuit is expected to be filed as early as Wednesday concerning the property on CR 3306.

Authorities became aware of the situation after responding to a reported case of illegal burning in September 2011. There, investigators allegedly found 25 piles of debris which were determined to have been accumulated on the property for over 48 years.
