Pam Derr, who passed away last Tuesday night, was the Delta County Republican Chairperson and had served for five years in the capacity of vice chair.

It was less than three weeks ago she, along with Joe Adams and Bryana Johnson attended the Republican State Convention as the only delegates for Delta County, sitting for long hours in caucus meetings. Derr was on the platform committee, a cause she loved and to which she dedicated her whole attention and energy.

Derr served as vice chair for five years before becoming County Chairman as well as being chosen for the second time to represent Senate District 2.

She has kept the Delta County Republican headquarters open year round, even when she was vice chair. She was the secretary for Klondike Volunteer Fire Department and active in the community. Her goal is to inform and educate the citizens of Delta County so each person could make wise decisions at the polls and in turn have a better Delta County.

The leader was a true conservative and a tireless worker. Her leadership and devotion to God and Country has made Delta County known throughout Texas.

Those she visited with on Thursday and read to at the nursing home, those ladies with whom she studied the Bible with on Wednesday morning, those in the community who enjoyed her bread, pies, cakes and other assorted foods at charitable events are mourning her unexpected passing.

Pam and Jerry were married February of 1973 and together theyraised the two children, son, John Derr and daughter, Tricia Beckstrom, with a strong faith in God and country and a strong work ethic. She is survived by them and her son-in-law, Taylor Beckstromand a granddaughter Pamela Grace.

Committal services were held on Friday June 29, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Horton Cemetery, F.M. 1531 in Delta County.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family is requesting that donations be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 8976, Greenville, Texas. 75404.
