A Royse City woman has been sentenced to being part of a truck theft ring operating in the area. Gricel Grijalva of Royse city entered an open guilty plea last month to one county of engaging  in organized criminal activity.

During a punishment hearing last month in the 354th District Court, Grijalva was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Judge Richard A. Beacom then ordered the sentence suspended and placed Grijalva on 10 years of probation and 90 days in jail.

Grijalva is the third Royse city resident connected to the alleged scheme to have either pleaded guilty or to have been found guilty so far this year. A fourth suspect is expected to enter a plea in November, two others have trials pending.

On the night of March 5th 2010, deputies from multiple law enforcement agencies checked a trailer outside of a residence on CR 2472. The trailer did turn out to be reported stolen along with a Toshiba television and other items.
