Corsicana campus closed today

Texas A&M University-Commerce

Navarro College in Corsicana, host to the A&M-Commerce Navarro Partnership, is closed Thursday because of a bomb threat.

The threat, received Wednesday, prompted officials at Navarro College to close its campus buildings through Thursday. The 10,000-student junior college in Corsicana is home of Texas A&M University-Commerce's Navarro Partnership Program.

Navarro College officials have asked all students, faculty and staff to remain off campus until an all-clear is given. Residence hall students have been asked to remain in their dorms until an all-clear is signaled. Meals will be served in the dining hall, the college said.

Off campus classes will continue as scheduled, officials said. The public has been asked to remain away from the main campus until an all-clear is given.

The threat came on the same day that Texas A&M University officials in College Station also took action based on a similar threat. University administration issued a "Code Maroon" safety advisory and closed Kyle Field, the football stadium, and nearby buildings. The evacuation displaced about 700 people.

Texas A&M said the threat was written on a wall of a nonacademic campus facility on Wednesday. Officials were told of it at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday and flashed the initial "Code Maroon" message at 12:25 p.m.
