Country singer Chris Cagle was arrested in Greenville Sunday, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said Monday that his office received a call early Sunday morning of suspicious activity outside of a residence on U.S. Highway 69 just south of Greenville. A description of the suspicious vehicle was given and a deputy spotted the vehicle at the intersection Joe Ramsey Boulevard and Interstate 30 in Greenville.
Meeks said a traffic stop was initiated and the driver was identified as Cagle, 45, of Marietta, Okla.
Cagle was arrested for the suspicion of DWI by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and transported to the Hunt County Detention Center.
He was not listed in custody as of Monday morning.
“It is unfortunate when someone of Mr. Cagle’s status is not responsible enough to not drink and drive,” Meeks said. “I commend my deputy and the trooper in making the correct decision.”
Cagle made his debut with the single "My Love Goes On and On" from his debut album Play It Loud. The album, which was certified gold in the United States, also produced the Top 10 hit "Laredo" and the number one hit "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out.”
