Weird, cryptic Facebook page puzzles users

UPDATE, 3:45 p.m.: As of around 3 p.m. this afternoon, the HCPC Facebook page had vanished. The North Central Texas Council of Governments Transportation Department confirmed that the page and the post were unrelated to any NCTCOG activity. And so the mystery remains, perhaps to be cleared up at the upcoming public meeting on the Blacklands Corridor in Greenville. That meeting will be March 20 at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center, located at 5501 S. Business Hwy. 69, beginning with an open house at 5:30 p.m. NCTCOG staff will make a presentation beginning at 6 p.m., which will be followed by a public comments session.

Original story:

So, anyone know what "HCPC" stands for? It's possible that "HC" stands for Hunt County, since the acronym bears some relationship to the North Central Texas Council of Governments Blacklands Corridor study. But, even that much isn't certain.

On the morning of March 17, a promoted Facebook post - the kind someone has to pay for - appeared in the news feeds of some users in Northeast Texas. The post featured a picture of a highway through a landscape with prairies and trees and a sunrise on the horizon. Under the headline "A Faster Commute to L-3" was the sentence "Stop waiting in the standstill with a better road to Greenville."

The post linked to the Blacklands Corridor Feasibility Study page on the North Central Texas Council of Governments website. But, the post did not seem to be written or paid for by the North Central Texas Council of Governments, the Transportation Department of which has its own Facebook page.

It was apparently written and paid for by HCPC, but the Facebook page for that acronym explains nothing. Absolutely no information, outside of the logo, an image of a tree and a road above the mystery initials. And, as of late morning on March 17, the page has no likes.
