Texas A&M Veterinary Teaching Hospital

Dr. Karri McCreary, co-owner of the Greenville Animal Hospital, says pet owners must take special precautions in the summer.  Outdoor dogs need a shady place and lots of water, and a raised bed that allows for air circulation is a good idea.  Dr. McCreary says pets should have all their vaccinations before they travel, and inserting a microchip is also a good idea.  And she says dogs traveling in cars should have a safety harness.
