Certificates of occupancy and property inspections were contemplated during a recent Cooper City Council meeting. City of Cooper Mayor Darren Braddy had just completed a week’s worth of code enforcement and ordinance training and brought new insights to the Council.
The Mayor said changes to ordinances and code enforcement will help improve the appearance of properties inside the City which in turn helps attract residents and businesses, alike.
A Town Hall Meeting will be held on Monday, Oct. 30 from 5 - 7 p.m. at City Hall. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
“It is not about us out to beat up landlords with paperwork and restrictions, this is about giving good quality, safe, and sanitary living conditions,” explained Mayor Braddy. He encouraged the Council members to read the suggestions carefully while thinking about “what do we want in our community.” Mayor Braddy said his door is always open to questions and any concerns.
The proposed budget which will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $31,632.34 and 5.63 percent, and of that amount $19,166.79 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.
“This budget reflects a three percent increase for employees (minus the mayor’s pay),” said Mayor Braddy. The entire budget can be found online at http://www.cityofcoopertx.municipalimpact.com/annual-budget.
It was agreed to move the Nov. 13 meeting up to Monday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m.
