Jury Duty Scam Hits NE Texas

Anyone calling you for not showing up for jury duty is probably a scammer.

Police in Collin and Lamar counties says a man has been calling residents from someone says the resident skipped jury duty. He then asks the resident to verify personal information, including a social security number.

In Lamar County, the caller even asked residents to put money on a debit card from a local store. Police there say the callers are using spoofers – phony numbers that show up as local numbers in order to fool intended victims.
