After a generally damp winter and spring, signs of drought have returned to three counties in Northeast Texas.
The latest report from the Texas Water Development Board and U.S. Drought Monitor shows an abnormally dry patch in Hopkins, Delta, and Lamar counties. This is the first time in several weeks that any signs of drought have appeared in the region.
In other parts of Texas, drought is still a serious problem. The Panhandle continues to suffer through the worst level of drought conditions, exceptional drought. According to the TWDB, 43 percent of the state is in some period of drought as of Monday.
