I-30 closures, FM 36 bridge repairs highlight Hunt County road work this week

I-30 closures, FM 36 bridge work among Northeast Texas road projects this weekDrivers in Hunt County can expect overnight closures and daytime disruptions along Interstate 30 this week as construction continues on several projects in the Greenville area.

The Texas Department of Transportation’s Paris District says work scheduled for the week of Aug. 24 includes an overnight closure of the westbound I-30 main lanes between Monte Stratton Parkway and FM 1903. Those lanes are scheduled to close Monday, Aug. 24, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Tuesday as part of the ongoing I-30 interchange improvement project. fileciteturn0file0

Farther east, construction continues on I-30 between County Road 2511 and FM 36. Crews are working in the median and along the frontage roads, while the FM 36 underpass is scheduled to close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the week for repairs related to damage from previous bridge strikes. TxDOT says the roadway will reopen later each day. Drivers should also expect nighttime single-lane and rolling closures in the project area.

Other Hunt County projects this week include:

• FM 2642 between FM 35 and SH 66: Work continues on retaining walls, with a northbound lane closure expected between I-30 and SH 66 near Peppergrass.
• SH 276 between FM 751 and County Road 3609: The 2.6-mile rehabilitation project will add a center turn lane. Pavement marking work and flagger operations may cause delays.
• FM 36 between US 380 and SH 66: Crews are backfilling roadway edges as part of a 6.11-mile rehabilitation and safety project. Lane closures are expected.
• FM 816 at Loring Creek: The roadway remains closed while two bridges are replaced. Traffic is being detoured around the project.
• I-30 Exit 101: Crews are painting the SH 24 overpass as part of preventative bridge maintenance, with single-lane closures expected on the I-30 main lanes.
• FM 512 between SH 34 and FM 118: The contractor continues sign installation.

Hunt County maintenance crews also plan pavement work on FM 1532 between SH 50 and FM 904 and on SH 50 between SH 24 and the Fannin County line. Routine pothole repairs, roadway sweeping, sign work and mailbox maintenance are also planned across Hunt and Rains counties.

Elsewhere in the KETR listening area

In Hopkins County, crews will continue widening FM 900 between US 67 and FM 69, with flaggers and slower traffic expected. Bridge deck repairs are also underway on I-30 at Clendening Creek, requiring daily lane closures. fileciteturn0file0

In Delta County, drivers should watch for temporary closures and a detour on FM 1528 between Dallas Avenue and Fort Worth Avenue in Cooper while crews rehabilitate the roadway. Work also continues on SH 154, FM 128 and the FM 2068 bridge at West Fork Jernigan Creek.

TxDOT says construction schedules may change because of weather, equipment problems or other unforeseen circumstances. Drivers are urged to slow down, pay attention to signs and traffic controls and avoid distractions while traveling through work zones.
