Each summer East Delta Baptist Church, in partnership with other local area churches, reaches out to families of financially disadvantaged children attending school in the Cooper ISD by providing new clothing at the beginning of each school year.

This year the organization has nearly 70 applications, and the Mary Hill Davis Foundation is providing all the backpacks.

Student Outfitters is asking the Delta County community to participate in this effort by sponsoring a child participating in the program.

Individuals and churches may contact Program Coordinator, Gwendolyn Savage (903) 401-0987, to receive a sponsorship packet or to get more information.

Donations may be brought to East Delta Baptist Church or placed in the donation barrels at The Rebel Rose or the Beauty Depot in downtown Cooper. The deadline for donations is Saturday, July 28.
