Earlier this week, Collin College became the first community college in Texas to greenlight a school marshal program. And it was a narrow decision – 5 to 4, during Tuesday’s trustee meeting.
The vote sets the course to allow licensed staff and faculty members to intercede in the event of a mass shooting or other crisis.
The McKinney Courier-Gazette reports that the Board of Trustees’ approval is the first in a series of steps Collin College needs to take before school marshals are walking the campus. The program will take several months of planning and development before it can be fully realized.
