Carol Taylor, Hunt County Historical Commission chairman, relates the story of prohibitionist Carrie Nation being brought to Commerce to speakin March 1905 by Etta Booth Mayo, the wife of William Mayo, the  founder of what is now Texas A&M-Commerce.
