Jan. 14 Evening Newscast: Celebration Monday in Ivory Moore Park to highlight MLK weekend in Commerce

On Sunday, Mount Moriah Baptist Church will host its annual MLK Day service.

  • Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday observances are coming up around Northeast Texas this weekend. In Commerce, the main celebration will be Monday in Ivory Moore Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also in Commerce, Mount Moriah Baptist Church will host its annual MLK Day service Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
  • Cold weather is headed our way, with increasingly cloudy and windy conditions tonight and lows in the low to mid 30s. Wintry on Saturday, with highs in the mid 30s, clouds and a chance for snow flurries or rain showers. The region will also be under a wind advisory on Saturday, with northwesterly winds gusting to 45 MPH. Despite the cold temperatures, the high winds combined with dry ground conditions will create a high risk of wildfires throughout the region Saturday.
