Cielo Wind Power is looking to lease from landowners along a corridor stretching from south of Dodd City to south of Honey Grove.

  • More than 200 people attended a forum in Honey Grove last night regarding a possible wind farm in Fannin County. The event was organized by Fannin County Judge Randy Moore, Honey Grove mayor Claude Caffee, and other local officials. A proposal would build a wind farm along a roughly 16-mile stretch from south of Dodd City to south of Honey Grove. Cielo Wind Power, a Chilean company with U.S. headquarters in Austin, is seeking 25-year leases from area landowners. Most of those in attendance last night expressed opposition to the proposal. Judge Moore advised landowners to seek legal advice before signing any agreements with developers.
  • In Greenville, the building that once housed the city’s hospital is being demolished. The Herald Banner reports work began yesterday at 3720 Oneal Street, which most recently had served as the Greenville Senior Center Resources and Public Transit office. The agency moved out of the location in 2006 due to the building’s general state of decline, including a lack of air conditioning. No plans for the property have been announced.
