Man dead following shootout with Rockwall police

Authorities say the man was a suspect in a stabbing and kidnapping that occured in Dallas on Thursday.

  • In Rockwall last night, local police fatally shot a man suspected of a stabbing and kidnapping in Dallas. The man’s identity has not been released. Rockwall police said shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday evening, officers responded to a call about a man possibly involved in a kidnapping. The Dallas Morning News reports that less than hour later, Dallas police notified Rockwall police of a stabbing involving the same man, in which a woman and two children were abducted. Around 8:20 p.m., Rockwall officers found the man outside a home near the intersection of Rockwall Parkway and Summerhill Drive. Police say when they tried to get in contact with him, he shot at officers. A gunfight followed. The man was shot and taken to a local hospital, where he died. No officers were injured. No further details are currently available.
