North Lamar ISD's Stewart nominated for Region VIII Superintendent of the Year

Each of the state's 20 Educational Service Centers honors one supirintemndent annually.

  • In Lamar County, the Paris News reports that North Lamar ISD superintendent Kelli Stewart has been nominated for Region 8 Superintendent of the Year. Winners from each of the state’s 20 education centers will compete later this year for the Texas Association of School Board’s Superintendent of the Year. North Lamar ISD voters approved a $51 million bond initiative in May of last year. The approval came in the wake of two failed bond measures. The Paris News also reports enrollment has rebounded in the district and campuses have improved and added security and safety resources.
  • Northeast Texas could get a late freeze this coming weekend. The NWS reports temperatures could drop down to the freezing mark or lower early Saturday morning. We’ll have variable weather across the region in the meantime. Today and Tuesday are forecast to be sunny and cool, with highs in the mid 50s. Milder Wednesday, with highs in the 60s. Thursday, cloudy and rainy with highs near 70. Cooling off again on Friday, with highs in the low 50s.
