Johnson seeking judge's post, to challenge Northcut

SULPHUR SPRINGS - The race for Judge of Texas’s 8thJudicial District will feature two Sulphur Springs attorneys.

Clay Johnson has announced his candidacy for the democratic nomination for the office, which includes Hopkins, Delta, Franklin and Rains counties. He's been an attorney with his father, Coy Johnson for the past 17 years.  

Sulphur Springs attorney Eddie Northcut is running for the republican nomination.

Incumbent Judge Robert Newsome has presided over the court since 1997 and is not seeking re-election.
