City of Commerce sets limits on animals at city events

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The Commerce City Council passed the second reading on an ordinance that controls the presence of animals at city sanctioned events and in city parks. The Council had concerns on the first reading of the ordinance, as they did not want to limit residents' ability to enjoy city parks with their pets, but wanted a framework allowing the city to deal with animals at large gatherings or in the event of legitimate complaints. The Council passed the ordinance on the second reading after modifications to address those concerns.
