City joins others in support of transportation plan

COMMERCE - The City of Commerce is the latest Hunt County entity to sign off on a draft transportation plan that will guide the region for the next few decades.

A&M-Commerce President Dan Jones, co-chair of the Hunt County Transportation Committee, presented more than two years of work by the committee to the City Council during Tuesday night’s meeting.

Councils throughout Hunt County will be given the opportunity to give their seal of approval before the draft plan goes before the Commissioners Court in March.

“It’s important to the Commissioners Court that Commerce let them know they have a vested interest in this plan,” Dr. Jones stated in his presentation to the council.

The Greenville City Council approved a resolution in support of the plan last week.
