Bitcoin has billionaires now. So everybody's suddenly paying a lot more attention to it. The problem is, not a lot of people actually know what Bitcoin is. And whether being rich with it is really being rich or it's like having Monopoly money up to your ears is still a question we're trying to answer.
On this episode of Convo, I talk with R. Christopher Whalen, an investment banker and chairman of Whalen Global Advisors LLC in New York. He is the author of three books, the latest being Ford Men: From Inspiration to Enterprise (released in 2017). He edits The Institutional Risk Analyst, and is a familiar guest on CNBC, Bloomberg, Fox News and Business News Network.
He's also the author of a recent article on bitcoin for The American Conservative magazine called Bitcoin: The Most Impressive Speculative Bubble In Modern History.
In what is, trust me, his typically no-bull style, Chris lays out why he thinks Bitcoin is a high-tech flim-flam. Along the way he shes some light on how money overall is it's own type of scam anyway -- just with a better basis for survival than the "game" he says Bitcoin really is.
