Steve Killian, superintendent of Cooper Lake State Park, says he expects large numbers of visitors during spring break, the weeks of March 8 and March 15.  He says it necessary to make reservations for overnight stays.  Steve says the park has recently become an official Texas Parks and Wildlife weighing station for record-setting fish.  And Steve says the park will be opening its equestrian trails for mountains biking.

Northeast Texas Children's Museum, Facebook

Sharline Freeman, director of the Northeast Texas Children's Museum in Commerce, says the museum is getting ready for large crowds of children over spring break, which starts for many public schools on Monday, March 8.  One field-trip group is coming from Hugo, Okla.  The museum now features a new fire engine, provided by Bob Stachowiak and numerous friends.

Steve Killian, superintendent of Cooper Lake State Park, says the park will be full of campers and other visitors the next two weeks for spring break.  Steve says about 50 percent of the park's visitors come from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Cooper ISD Releases New Calendar

Cooper ISD released the 2018-2019 school year calendar.

Cooper Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the new upcoming 2018-2019 school calendar and holidays. Calendar example “B” was selected and approved. Spring Break will be late in March to coordinate with Texas A&M University in Commerce.

School will begin on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018. Christmas holiday will be from Dec. 24-Jan. 4, and Spring Break will be March 18-22, 2019. Graduation will be Friday, May 24, 2019 at 7 p.m.
