Tigers, Lions both at home this weekend

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce –
COMMERCE HIGH SCHOOL TIGERS

The Commerce Tigers finish up their regular season tonight as they host the winless Quinlan Ford Panthers. The Tigers have dropped just one game in district play, and with Emory-Rains soundly defeating Mount Vernon last week, the District 11-3A title is up for grabs. The Tigers have the last week of the season off as they will watch to see playoff match-ups unfold.

The Panthers have struggled under a new passing offense that went until the fourth game of the season before scoring any points at all. Since then, they have notched just 64 total points and given up a total of 289 for the season. In district play, the Panthers have lost to both Emory-Rains and Winnsboro, while Commerce dropped their first district game to Mount Vernon.

Kick-off is set for 7:30 at Memorial Stadium in Commerce. Live coverage here on 88.9 begins at 7.

A&M-COMMERCE LIONS

And the A&M-Commerce Lions play host to the high-flying West Texas A&M Buffaloes tomorrow. It is a day to honor veteran tomorrow at Memorial Stadium, with a patriotic pre-game ceremony and the annual military fly-over. And it may be a high-scoring affair on the football field, too. West Texas A&M has lost just one game on the season and is averaging 48 points a game. But they are also second to only to Southwestern Oklahoma in points allowed as they are giving up about 30 points per contest.

Game time is set for 2pm in Memorial Stadium in Commerce, with live coverage on 88.9 beginning at 1:30.
