Rains County enacts burn ban

By Kevin Jefferies

Rains County – Rains County has issued an emergency seven-day outdoor burn ban for all unincorporated areas of the county. The ban went into effect Monday. Dry conditions and lack of rain that has affected all of Northeast Texas prompted the Rains County Commissioners to enact a burn ban much the same as most other surrounding counties.

The cities of Emory, Point, and East Tawakoni have also passed measures to make any burn bans enacted by the county effective in their cities. West Tawakoni is already under a city-imposed burn ban.

The commissioners are expected to meet in special session to consider extending the seven-day ban.
