Smash and grab burglaries under investigation

By Kevin Jefferies

Sulphur Springs – Two smash-and-grab burglaries overnight Sunday in Sulphur Springs may be related to other burglaries reported in the Metroplex. Officers were alerted to the store alarm sounding at O'Reilley's Auto parts store in Sulphur Springs around midnight Sunday. On the scene in less than two minutes, officers found the front door shattered and the store safe missing, which held an undisclosed amount of money and keys to company trucks. The safe was the only thing missing.

Police received a second call mid-morning Monday about a similar break-in at Los Mochis restaurant in Sulphur Springs.

Sulphur Springs police are investigating the possibility of a link to similar crimes in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex committed by a large group of people wearing gloves and masks that generally hit at least two different areas at the same time.
