Commerce Council to discuss street improvement plan

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Commerce City Council is scheduled Tuesday to meet in workshop prior to its regular meeting, where they'll discuss the Texas Open Meetings Act and a street improvement program.

A civil engineering firm representative will be on hand to introduce some street improvement options for the city. City Manager Dion Miller says the council may discuss a pre-design plan, and conduct an inventory and pavement assessment. Council will also take into account the city's current drainage study, which is scheduled to be complete in September.

The council's regular meeting will follow the workshop. Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing and consider a conditional use permit for property along Main Street for use as a welfare or health center. They'll also consider approval of a possible rate increase from Atmos Energy, plus make appointments of members to a Charter Review Committee.

Tuesday's workshop is open to the public and begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Executive Conference Room of City Hall, 1119 Alamo Street. The regular session begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
