Campbell – A prison sentence is handed down in a Hunt County murder case.
James Ray Brown Jr. was sentenced Thursday to 60 years for the shooting death of his wife, Avis Baker Brown, in October of last year.
Brown had previously testified he did not remember the night of the murder, when he used a shotgun to shoot and kill his wife of nine years, in front of two of his children, following a day of drinking and taking prescription pain pills.
In June, Brown entered an open plea of guilty to the charge.
He will have to spend a minimum of 30 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
