Greenville – The Greenville ISD is guaranteed a savings of approximately $267,000 per year in energy costs following approval of a contract Tuesday night with Chevron.
In March, the board hired Chevron to conduct a comprehensive energy analysis of the district's facilities to identify problems and areas where the district can save on its energy usage.
The company plans to implement a number of energy-efficient items at Crockett Elementary, the middle school and L.P. Waters Early Childhood Center.
If the district fails to meet the guaranteed savings, Chevron will write a check to Greenville ISD for the difference.
Meanwhile, better energy management has resulted in over $100,000 in savings for both the Commerce and Paris ISD's since implementing the programs toward the end of last year.
