Grant to provide vast improvements at Graham Park

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – Greenville's Graham Park is the recipient of a $1 million outdoor recreation grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPW) Department.

The matching grant requires half from the City and will provide for a number of leisure and amusement activities.

Funding will cover projects including but not limited to a splash park, disc golf, a walking trail, new volleyball courts and playground equipment and improved basketball courts.

Planning and design of the proposed improvements will begin early next year and will take an estimated 12 months to complete.

Greenville's Parks and Recreation Department submitted an application for both of the TPW's grant cycles last year and was the number one recommended project during the second round. Since it was established, Graham Park has been the second most used park in the City's system.
