Birthright – Several Hopkins County structures were threatened Thursday by a large grass and timber fire that occurred in Birthright. The blaze ignited around 2 p.m. along CR 4729.
Volunteers from Sulphur Bluff, North Hopkins Peerless, Pickton-Pine Forest, Saltillo, Cumby Brinker, Tira and Dike were called to assist. It took approximately two hours to contain.
Firefighters believe the blaze was caused because of a controlled burn of trash and debris that became unmanageable.
