Family of Dalton Young to host benefit event

By Scott Harvey

Paris – A benefit for Dalton Young, the Lamar County boy who was shot in the head this fall, is set for Sunday in Paris.

The ten-year-old Young was reportedly shot by his mother, Salida, at their home in Powderly on Oct. 25. Salida is also believed to have shot and killed Kayla Roberts, before turning the gun on herself, committing suicide.

Dalton has since undergone several surgeries to repair his skull and was last said to be recovering nicely.

Sunday's benefit is scheduled from noon until 10 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Paris. Live music and food will be provided and donations will be accepted. For more on how you can help, call (580) 230-9475.
