Commerce Mayor files answer to lawsuit

By Brad Kellar

Commerce – Commerce Mayor Quay Throgmorton and his wife, Paige, are denying claims in a lawsuit filed against them by the City.

An answer and general denial was filed by their attorney Courtney Willis on January 31, in response to lawsuit filed earlier that month by Commerce City Attorney Jim McLeroy.

No hearings have been scheduled in the case.

The suit alleges the two failed to repay the City more than $50,000 in improvements made five years ago to a development site dubbed the Rosemound Addition project. In March, 2006, the Mayor did repay over $34,000 to the City, but a recent investigation has found the remaining costs were never paid.
