City to debut more sophisticated alert system

By Scott Harvey

Paris – Beginning next month, the City of Paris is discontinuing its CodeRED emergency alert system to bring citizens a new system called PARIS ALERTS!.'

It allows emergency information to be passed on by voicemail, text message and e-mail. The current CodeRED database will be imported to the new system, but may not already include a number for text messages or an e-mail address for consumers.

So citizens can add to their existing account or sign up for Paris Alerts! by visiting www.paristexas.gov.

Residents can also choose from notifications on community activities, traffic issues, water utilities and parks and recreation.

Last week, a tornado is believed to have developed just west of Paris near Brookston, resulting in some damage but no injuries.
