Road projects to receive $6 million in repairs

Paris – A number of roadways in Northeast Texas are scheduled to receive improvements over the next several weeks.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) recently awarded a contract for various parts of the agency's Paris District, which covers nine area counties. Brannon Paving Company was the low bidder on the project, at more than $6.2 million. You can view a complete list of road projects throughout the region below.
The roadways will have what is commonly referred as a chip seal placed over the existing pavement surface to improve and preserve the pavement structure. Traffic control includes one-way operation during construction, which is expected to run through early August.
"This preventative maintenance project is critical to seal out moisture from damaging the pavements as well as preserve our investment in the roadway" said Brad Martin, TxDOT Area Engineer for the Paris Area Office.
