Dodd avoids trial as officials drop charges

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A Wolfe City woman will not stand trial for criminally negligent homicide after the charges are dropped. Connie Scherie Dodd had pleaded not guilty.

She was alleged to have improperly restrained a child in a passenger safety seat, resulting in the death of four-year-old Destiny Dodd when their vehicle collided with a horse. The accident occurred along FM 816 on October 1, 2010.

Defense Attorney Sterling Newcomb argued the charge was faulty. Hunt County officials agreed and signed off on the order to dismiss Thursday.
