Liberty-Eylau grad is engaged to Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, plays for Boston Red Sox

My guess is that dad (and former Wolfe City atheletic director/head football coach) Tom Middlebrooks is proud of his boy.

Will Middlebrooks was born in Greenville, TX in 1988. Between then and now, his family lived in Wolfe City, then made a move to Texarkana in 1998. Within two years, he befriends future Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Ann Lux. By the way, they got engaged on New Year's Eve. (Middlebrooks was also Liberty-Eylau's star punter and pitcher, among other things.) Will went on to an incredible career in minor league baseball.

Now skip ahead to May 2nd of this year. BoSox third baseman Kevin Youkilis finds himself on the disabled list, and Middlebrooks is called up from the AAA Pawtucket team that is part of the Boston organization. And four days later, on May 6th, he records his first Major League homerun, a game-tying grand slam against Baltimore.

Fans and sportswriters alike hoped that when Youkilis came back into the lineup on May 22nd, Middlebrooks would stay on the roster. BoSox manager Bobby Valentine seems averse to yanking Youkilis due to injury, but wants to keep Middlebrooks around.

This writer hopes to see this hometown kid on MLB highlight reels nightly for a long time.
